Our dinner lasted probably five hours and I cannot even tell you what I had to eat because Claudio told the owner to just bring out his best dishes! The only thing I know is that the owner brought out a basket full of fresh mushrooms that had just been picked that morning that went into most of our dishes that we ate. I mean who does that over here? Not any restaurant that I've been to that's for sure. The restaurant looks out over all the vineyards in that area. It was so beautiful and the pictures that we took do not do it justice.
The funniest thing is that they kept telling us that this is where Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton all stayed during the Torino Olympic Games. I just had to laugh at that it was so funny because they said that the top of the restaurant was made into a three bedroom B&B and they all slept in separate rooms! Ha!
"La Ciau del Tornavento Restorante"
Jim and I out on the back patio that looks out to the vineyards. Yes, I wore shorts I had no idea that we were going to that nice of a restaurant and I totally felt under dressed;( Sad I know but still so much fun.
The view from our table
Grappa anyone? Jim explained to me that it is Italian Moonshine, and taste like gasoline. No, I did not even dare try it. I probably would have been laid smooth out on the table just from smelling it.
The wine list. The most expensive bottle of wine was $ 10,000 dollars! Crazy I know, but true I promise we went into the wine cellar.
The wine cellar and this is only one side of it. They had wine in boxes and also in baskets just sitting on the floor of the cellar. I saw bottles dating back to the '60's in there. It was crazy.
The safe that leads into the really expensive wine that the owner collects. If I heard right this is his private collection inside this door and they are not for sale and they are the most expensive bottles he owns.
And how about some Crystal for an end note;)
Again, IT WAS THE BEST FOOD I HAVE EVER EATEN!!!!
